Griffin & Keira Sims - Lenoir, NC Wedding

Pastel Garden Party Wedding at Heritage Valley Farms

by Charlotte + North Carolina Wedding Photographer Fairlight Visual

When I think of Keira and Griffin’s wedding, the words that come to mind are intentional, heartfelt, and full of calm joy. Set on a quiet piece of land at Heritage Valley Farms in Lenoir, North Carolina, this rustic spring celebration brought together everything I love about photographing weddings: meaningful traditions, soft florals, and a couple who truly cared about being present with each other and their people.

A Garden-Inspired Wedding with Pastel Florals & Rustic Charm

Keira and Griffin envisioned a soft, romantic garden party-style wedding, and that aesthetic came through beautifully. The bridesmaids wore sage green silk dresses that flowed gently in the breeze, and the venue was decorated with simple but stunning white, green, and pastel florals, especially tulips. Draped tulle hung from the wooden beams of the reception patio, creating an airy, elegant feel against the rustic barn and open fields in the background.

The ceremony took place under a covered patio, and though it ended up drizzling throughout the day, the covered spaces made everything feel cozy and intimate.

One of my favorite angles was from the side of the aisle — capturing the expressions of both Griffin and Keira as they exchanged vows.

Handfasting, Communion & Vows: A Ceremony Full of Meaning

One of the most beautiful parts of the day was their ceremony, which blended classic faith elements with a unique personal twist.

Keira and Griffin began with personal vows, then invited their parents up for a handfasting ritual, where each set of parents draped a ribbon over their joined hands. The two of them then tied the knot together — literally — symbolizing the merging of their families and support systems. Afterward, they shared communion with all their guests, bringing their community into their moment.

A few shots of their handfasting moment — it’s one of my favorites from the whole day.

A Relaxed Reception Full of Vibes (and Dancing!)

Keira and Griffin’s reception was laid-back but full of energy. The coffee hour setup was casual and welcoming, and while they weren’t sure how much dancing would actually happen, their guests proved them wrong in the best way. The dance floor stayed busy, with genuine laughter and movement — some of my favorite candids of the day came from the reception.

Some of my favorite motion-filled dancing photos with string lights and the tulle-draped patio ceiling.

A Couple Rooted in Faith, Simplicity & Each Other

Griffin is quieter and reserved, while Keira is bubbly and beachy, a total girl's girl. Together, they’re steady, sweet, and grounded. They love nature, long walks, and first met at a Bible study, which felt like such a beautiful full-circle moment during their faith-centered ceremony.

As a photographer, what I loved most about their wedding wasn’t just how pretty it looked (although it was gorgeous), but how present everyone felt. Keira and Griffin didn’t try to force their wedding into a Pinterest mold. They made intentional choices, stayed relaxed, and focused on each other, which, in my opinion, is exactly what makes photos timeless.
